Steeped with rich heritage, Guagua was an important settlement during the ancient times, even long before the Spaniards came. "Wawa" which means "mouth of a river", was the original name of the town and was re-christen to its present name in 1590.
Today, Guagua remains a bustling community, a first-class municipality, and the socio-economic nucleus of Pampanga â 2nd District. Teeming with progress, people from the neighboring towns frequents the place for the wide range of businesses operating here.
The town is 77 kilometers north of Metro Manila where several transport services (provided by Victory Liner, Bataan Transit, Baliwag Transit, Genesis Transport, etc.) are available daily at hourly intervals. For those traveling by car, take the North Luzon Expressway towards the San Fernando Exit, and then pass through the town of Bacolor. Once youâre at the townâs center, it is easy to get around and see the places of interest, as jeepneys and tricycles abound.
